DAREDEVIL Casts G.I. JOE: RETALIATION Actress as Elektra For Season 2
There's a lot of baggage that comes with the Marvel character of Elektra these days. An actress tasked with playing this role will have to deal not only with the weight of the knowledge that Jennifer Garner's 2005 Daredevil spin-off film in which she played the title character was so bad that it effectively shut down all female-led superhero films in the past decade, but she'll also need to know that she's stepping into the legacy of a Netflix series whose first season was beloved by tons of fans. That's a lot of pressure.
After the character was rumored to be heading to the small screen, Marvel has confirmed that is the case and announced that the showrunners have cast actress Elodie Yung, who played Jinx in G.I. Joe: Retaliation and had a role in District 13: Ultimatum, as the lethal Greek warrior who shares a past with Matt Murdock.
“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity,” said Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”
The second season of Daredevil will be available exclusively on Netflix sometime in 2016. What do you think about this casting?
