DAREDVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2 Gears Up for Matt Murdock’s Vigilante Army as Kingpin Outlaws Heroes

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 sounds lik the kind of Marvel street-level showdown fans have been waiting for, and new comments from Sana Amanat are giving us a solid glimpse of where things are heading.

The producer spoke with Empire and revealed that the creative team stepped into this new chapter with complete freedom, which opened the door to some ambitious storytelling.

Amanat explained, "The landscape was open, and that was so liberating," adding, "We were like, 'We can do whatever we want'." That freedom seems to be fueling one of the season’s biggest developments.

Matt Murdock will apparently spend part of the story assembling what Empire describes as a “vigilante army,” rallying the underground heroes of New York to push back against Wilson Fisk’s tightening grip on the city.

As the newly elected mayor, Fisk is using his position to outlaw superheroes entirely, targeting anyone who dares operate outside his rule.

Amanat teased the tension brewing inside Kingpin’s rise to power. "What does it mean for Fisk when he’s gotten everything he wants?" she said. "When you give a person whose thirst cannot be quenched his most valued treasure, is it enough? Or does he squeeze his treasure too hard?"

That direction immediately calls back to Devil’s Reign, the Daredevil comics arc where Kingpin uses Zebediah Killgrave’s mind-control abilities to dominate New York and silence its heroes. In the comics, the more he leans on that power, the more violent and unstable he becomes.

Krysten Ritter also returns as Jessica Jones and her presence suggests trouble is brewing. Amanat hinted that Jessica’s involvement is driven by something deeply connected to her past, and that could be connected to Killgrave.

She explained, "[Jones] isn't necessarily a team-up kind of person. So the reason she's back is because it feels like it's very personal. She brings edginess and lightness Daredevil can be very dark and dramatic, and she cuts through the BS in a really fun way."

A vigilante uprising led by Daredevil, a mayor weaponizing law and power against heroes, and the possibility of Killgrave’s legacy returning make this season sound genuinely exciting.
