Dark Horse Comics and Netflix Sign First Look Deal

After the success of Polar and The Umbrella Academy, Netflix and Dark Horse have decided to become closer friends. The two companies have signed a first look deal that gives Netflix the first pick of any TV shows or films from Dark Horse IPs. Furthermore, the teams have begun to explore possible future projects. Dark Horse President and Founder Mike Richardson is very happy about this partnership:

We are very excited about this new arrangement with the talented people at Netflix. We have strong creative relationships as well as a large content library to work with and, as we have seen with our recent projects, Netflix is the perfect partner to bring our stories to fans around the world.

Senior Vice President of Dark Horse Keith Goldberg said:

With The Umbrella Academy and Polar, Netflix has pushed our content out into the world and allowed it to spread in a way that we’ve never experienced before, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring a whole new slate of movies and shows to their world-wide audience.

Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content for Netflix, added:

Following the success of The Umbrella Academy, we’re excited to extend our relationship with Dark Horse Comics. The Netflix teams are already working in deep collaboration with Dark Horse to identify projects beyond the world of traditional superheroes — branching into horror, fantasy and family entertainment — that we think our members will love.

I’m really intrigued to see what comes of this deal. Could we see a more of Hellboy? Could this give way to Usagi Yojimbo getting a film or TV show? What do you think of this new deal?
