DARKWING DUCK Reboot Series in the Works at Disney+ with Seth Rogen Producing
Growing up, one of my favorite superheroes was Darkwing Duck. I loved the show and going back as an adult and watching clips here and there, it’s a genius piece of art. Well, Variety has learned that Evan Goldberg, Alex McAtee, Seth Rogen, and James Weaver are going to executive produce a Darkwing Duck reboot for Disney+ that is currently in early development.
This is awesome! This should be absolutely awesome and not terribly surprising given the appearances that the Terror that Flaps in the Night has made in the DuckTales reboot.
Darkwing Duck was created by Tad Stones and ran from 1991-1992 for three seasons and 91 episodes on The Disney Channel and ABC while also airing in syndication. The series followed the titular superhero, “who lived an ordinary suburban life under the secret identity of Drake Mallard. He is assisted in his crime fighting by his sidekick and pilot Launchpad McQuack. He is also sometimes assisted by his adopted daughter, Gosalyn.” The show featured the voices of Jim Cummings as Darkwing Duck, Christine Cavanaugh as Gosalyn, and Terry McGovern as Launchpad.
It feels like Disney’s been hinting at this series happening with including the character in the new Ducktales series. If they put the same care and attention in this series with what they’ve put into DuckTales, fans are going to love this.
Are you pumped for a Darkwing Duck reboot? I am all for it.
