Darren Aronofsky Set to Direct Brendan Fraser in THE WHALE
Darren Aronofsky has set up his next film project at A24. It’s titled The Whale, and Brendan Fraser is set to star. This will be the filmmaker’s first feature film directing gig since the 2017 film Mother!.
The project is based on Samuel D. Hunter‘s (Greater Clements) critically-acclaimed 2012 play of the same name. Hunter is also set to adapt the screenplay, and he said in a statement:
“Adapting my play into a screenplay has been a real labor of love for me. This story is deeply personal and I’m very thankful it will have the chance to reach a wider audience. I’ve been a fan of Darren’s ever since I saw Requiem for a Dream when I was a college freshman writing my first plays, and I’m so grateful that he’s bringing his singular talent and vision to this film.”
For those of you not familiar with the story, it centers around a six-hundred-pound recluse, who is hiding away from the world and slowly eating himself to death. He is given one last chance at redemption.
