Darth Maul Declares War in Awesome STAR WARS: MAUL – SHADOW LORD Promo Spot - "The Force Serves Me"

A new look at Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord has arrived, and it makes one thing clear, Darth Maul isn’t done with anyone who crossed him.

Lucasfilm just dropped an awesome new promo spot teasing the animated series, and it leans hard into Maul’s obsession with revenge as he tries to claw his way back into power. It also offers some extremely exciting new footage!

The show picks up after the chaos of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, placing Maul in a galaxy that has moved on without him. The Empire has no use for the former Sith weapon, and that rejection seems to fuel everything he does next.

The footage highlights the aftermath of his defeat by Obi-Wan Kenobi, while also showing how deeply that loss still burns.

The official logline reads: “Set after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, this pulpy adventure finds Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire.

“There, he crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who could be the apprentice he is seeking to aid him in his relentless pursuit of revenge,” reads the show’s official logline.

This series is going to give us darker, more personal story. Instead of being a pawn in someone else’s game, Maul is building something of his own, and dragging others into his orbit along the way.

The idea of him mentoring a fallen or conflicted Padawan adds a dangerous twist that could make this series feel very different from past animated Star Wars stories.

The clip also leans into the idea that Maul feels discarded by the Empire, replaced and forgotten in favor of Count Dooku. That resentment is front and center, and it drives his next move as he sets his sights on revenge.

Sam Witwer returns to bring Maul back to life after his standout work in The Clone Wars and Rebels. Witwer’s performance has always been a huge part of what makes the character so compelling, and this series looks like it’s giving him plenty to work with.

The project comes from Dave Filoni, working from characters originally created by George Lucas, and the cast includes Wagner Moura, Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara, Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson, Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots, Dennis Haysbert as Master Eeko-Dio-Daki, Chris Diamantopoulos as Looti Vario, Charlie Bushnell as Rylee Lawson, Vanessa Marshall as Rook Kast, David C. Collins as Spybot, A.J. LoCascio as Marrok, and Steve Blum as Icarus.

The show is executive-produced by Filoni, Athena Yvette Portillo, Matt Michnovetz, Brad Rau, Carrie Beck, Josh Rimes, and Alex Spotswood, with Rau as the supervising director.

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premieres on April 6 on Disney+ with its first two episodes. After that, two new episodes will roll out weekly, leading up to the finale on May 4.
