Darth Vader Invades San Diego City Council to Demand More Surveillance Cameras

Forget the Death Star. Darth Vader has apparently found a new weapon in the fight against rebel scum: Flock license plate readers.

The Dark Lord of the Sith recently appeared at a San Diego public safety meeting to throw his support behind expanded surveillance cameras across the city. Vader made his priorities perfectly clear.

Playgrounds? Monitor them. Pools? Monitor them. Gyms? Monitor them. Apparently, commanding an Empire capable of keeping tabs on an entire galaxy just wasn’t enough surveillance for this guy.

Things took an even funnier turn when Vader revealed why he really wants San Diego to embrace the technology: “I need this so I can stalk my ex-girlfriend.”

So there you have it. The Galactic Empire may have fallen, but the surveillance budget lives on. The whole appearance turned a San Diego City Council discussion about Flock cameras, license plate readers, public safety, and privacy into something straight out of a Star Wars comedy sketch.

Watch the video below and witness the Sith Lord make his case for bringing a little more Imperial surveillance to San Diego.
