Dave Bautista Is Open to Playing a Different Character in the MCU and He's Talked to Kevin Feige About It

Dave Bautista has made it very clear in the past that he is done with Drax. It was a relief for him to move on from playing the fan-favorite character, but he is open to taking on another role in the MCU! During an interview with Gizmodo, Bautista was asked if he was really done working with Marvel Studios following the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3, and he responded:

“No, no. When I said that I was done, I was really just done with my journey as Drax. I still have a relationship with Marvel. I’ve seen Kevin Feige again, Lou [D’Esposito] as recently as two weeks ago. And they know that I would be up for a role. I love the universe—the superhero universe, I love it. I’m a fan. So Marvel or DC, if they call, I would answer the phone. And if the role makes sense, I’d be all over it. I just would like the opportunity to do a bigger role, a different role. Maybe a deeper role. I’d love to have the opportunity to play, like an ominous villain in the superhero universe. Yeah. But never. I’m not done with it. But my journey with Drax is over.”

Bautista had a great run with Drax, but it would be interesting to see him return to the MCU in some way. If he did end up playing a villain, I wonder who it would be. He has to have his sites on something! There must be a specific character that he has in mind that he’d want to play, and if he’s been talking to the Marvel brass, he’s told them who it is.

It’s cool to hear that Bautista is open to returning to the MCU, the question is… will it ever actually happen? As for the DC Cinematic Universe and James Gunn, he said: “We just haven’t had the conversations. He’s on top of DC now. He’s doing his thing. I’m trying to grind along in my processing. But, I’m always open-minded too, and I’ve expressed that to him.”

So, it seems like Bautista is closer to jumping back into Marvel than he is DC. Is there a villain that you’d like to see Bautista play in the MCU?
