Dave Bautista Joins Director Denis Villeneuve's New DUNE Film Adaptation
Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) is the latest actor to join the cast of director Denis Villeneuve’s new adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune.
Bautista joins the previously cast Timothee Chalamet (Lady Bird, Call Me By Your Name), who is taking on the lead role of Paul Atreides. Then there’s Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible - Fallout), who is said to be playing Atreides’ mother, Lady Jessica.
Villeneuve and Bautista previously worked together on the film Blade Runner 2049, so it’s not surprising that they would work together again on this film. There’s no word on who Bautista will be playing in the movie, but here’s the synopsis:
Set in the distant future, Dune follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is contested among competing noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship to nature, as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign.
Are you happy to hear that Bautista has joined the cast of Dune? Who do you think he will be playing in the movie?
