Dave Bautista Says Marvel Studios Doesn't See Worth in Making a Drax Solo Film

Drax is a seriously great Marvel character, both in the films and in the comics. He has such an interesting story arc, and I would actually love to see the character get a deeper and further exploration in a standalone film. So would Dave Bautista, but he says that Marvel Studios doesn’t see the worth in producing a Drax film.

I know Marvel’s got a epically long slate of movies they have to make, but even if we don’t get a film they could always make a Drax Disney+ series!

It would be interesting to see Drax reunited with his daughter who he thought was killed. In the comics, his daughter, Heather Douglas, survived Thanos’s attack. It’s explained that she was found by Mentor, an Eternal of Titan, “and was brought to Titan to be raised. Intense study of mental and physical disciplines under the Shao-Lom Monks allowed her to tap into her latent mental powers, making her the equal of a Titan in combat, and superior to most. The cosmic entity known as the Dragon of the Moon secretly played on her arrogance and mentally influenced her, causing her to believe she was a superior being, above morals.”

She becomes Moondragon, and even without the Dragon's influence, Moondragon “suffers from a bit of a superiority complex as, while she seems to be on a team more often than not, she is never a popular member and is always talking down to her teammates; which is all a big part of what has made her a fascinating character. Throughout her superhero career, she would repeatedly be involved with Adam Warlock; sometimes loosely and sometimes integrally.”

I believe that in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, when Mantis touched Drax she learned that his daughter was still alive, but before she could tell him, they were interrupted. You can watch that scene below.

So, I’d be totally up for seeing a Drax and Moondragon story told as a film or series! Would you? Maybe it will be explored in Vol. 3.
