With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 being director James Gunn’s final film in the franchise, it’s going to be interesting to see what ends up happening with all of these wonderful characters in the MCU after Gunn completes the story he set out to tell.

During a recent interview with Digital Spy, Dave Bautista shared his thoughts on the future of Drax and he believes that his story will come to an end after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. When talking about the film he said:

"I don't know what the script of the third film is, to be honest with you. There was a script years ago that obviously is going to have to change because the whole direction of the Marvel universe has changed.”

When talking about the Drax’s future on the MCU, the actor said:

"There were talks for a while about a Drax and Mantis film. It was really because it was James Gunn's idea. He really wanted to do a Drax and Mantis film. He laid it out to me. I thought it was such a brilliant idea, but I haven't heard any follow-up from the studio. I don't think they're very interested, or it doesn't fit into the way they have things mapped out. But other than that, no. I mean, as far as my obligations, I've got Guardians 3, and that's probably going to be the end of Drax."

Drax is such a great character, and I hope that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 isn’t the last that we see of him. But, it very well could be. You never know! How do you think Drax and the rest of the Guardians team will be handled after Gunn concludes his trilogy?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 5, 2023.
