Dave Filoni Discusses His Role With STAR WARS RESISTANCE and How He's Getting Back into CLONE WARS Mode
For all of you who are excited for the upcoming Star Wars Resistance, we still don't know very much. Just a few little things here and there that we've gotten. But just the thought that showrunner Dave Filoni (Star Wars: Clone Wars) is going to bring us another show helps boosts its awesomeness. Then here lies the rub. Filoni isn't going to be involved very much with the project.
In an interview with IGN, this is what Filoni says concerning his role in the upcoming series:
"Resistance is a bit different, in that I’m not on that day-to-day. I created and set it in motion, but I’ve given that to other people to raise up, people that I’ve worked with a long time, who I think deserve the opportunity to tell stories and I think it’s exciting, and I give them my thoughts and notes – I was just doing that this morning, like George would give me. So that’s fun."
There will be touches of Dave’s work in the series, but he is leaving most of the heavy lifting to his trusted co-workers. He also goes into how jumping back into Clone Wars is going:
"With Clone Wars I’m very in the weeds on that and will have to be, because I myself have had to go back and watch a whole bunch of stuff that I had done, and I went back and watched Revenge of the Sith and Attack of the Clones in depth again. I’m like, 'I have to upload this whole timeline.' Just the intricacy of how the clones got made and where Dooku was and all of those things were stuff that I was just doing from memory at the time, because I was in it. Then I switched time periods and went on and did Star Wars Rebels, so to go back into Clone Wars, I have to remember, “Wait – where was everybody? How did that work?” And I had charts and figured all this stuff out, but I’ve uploaded the chip now, so I’m good."
When the show was first announced, we learned that it would revolve around a character named Kazuda Xiono, who is described as "a young pilot recruited by the Resistance whose mission is to spy on the growing threat of the First Order." We also knew that Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) would be a part of this new Star Wars adventure. We also have a synopsis for the series:
Resistance fighter Poe Dameron tasks young pilot Kazuda “Kaz” Xiono with spying on the First Order. At the time, little was known about the secretive organization and its strength.
In order to fulfill his mission, Kaz travels to the space station Colossus, which is being used by many ships as a port to refuel and do repairs. However, there are also dangerous races taking place there. After Kaz bragged with his piloting skills at his arrival there, he is soon drawn into one of the races…
To be honest with you, there has been a hole in the Star Wars universe for me since Rebels ended. The last few episodes were very emotional for me, but we can talk about that later. For now, it is good to know that there are more stories to come. What do you think?
