Dave Filoni Talks About THE BAD BATCH Saying it Follows The Legacy Started by George Lucas
As you know, Lucasfilm is developing a new animated series that serves as a spinoff to Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The new series is titled The Bad Batch and fans are super excited about seeing these colorful clone characters get their own series.
Dave Filoni has been developing the series with his creative team and in a recent interview with The Star Wars Show, he discussed the scope and quality of the series and he explained that it will follow the legacy started by George Lucas. He explains:
“It’s a fun show, I’m very excited about it. It’s very much in the vein of Clone Wars. It follows the legacy that we started way back with George [Lucas] of telling very, very exciting adventure stories in the style of Clone Wars. It does aspire to the look and scale of those adventures… the audience really demands to have the animated series be epic.”
Those words of encouragement are sure to get fans excited. The series follows the “elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in The Clone Wars) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch – a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army -- each possess a singular exceptional skill which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.”
It was also confirmed that The Mandalorian character Fennec Shand will also appear in the series, which is set before The Mandalorian. Actor Ming-Na Wen told StarWars.com:
“Everybody is saying they just want the confirmation. So, yes, it is Fennec! It’s a younger Fennec and she is voiced by me and I’m thrilled and beyond happy that Dave wanted to create more of a backstory for her.”
As a huge fan of the Star Wars animated shows such as The Clone Wars and Rebels, I couldn’t be more excited for The Bad Batch! This show’s gonna be awesome!
