David Ayer is Developing an END OF WATCH Police Drama Series For Fox

David Ayer is taking his 2012 film End of Watch, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña, and is developing it as a TV series. The show has landed at Fox, which has given the police drama a script-to-series commitment.

End of Watch was a great movie and the series will have the same concept as it “follows the daily grind of two young police officers in Los Angeles who are partners and friends, and what happens when they meet criminal forces greater than themselves.”

Ayer is co-writing and executive producing the series with Them showrunner David Matthews. The network has ordered a pilot script, a backup script and a format, and will make a series order decision based on that.

I think this would make for a decent series. For the most part, I like Ayer’s work. We’ll just have to wait and see if this End of Watch series gets a full-on commitment.
