David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' STAR WARS Trilogy Would Have Explored The Origins of The Jedi

It was recently announced that Game of Thrones series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss would no longer be developing their Star Wars trilogy for Lucasfilm. There was also a recent report that Disney removed them from the project long before the announcement of their departure.

Well, now we have a bit of new information to share with you regarding what Benioff and Weiss were planning. According to a report from Variety, they were interested in exploring how the Jedi came to exist. As they were developing their ideas, the visions of the Lucasfilm executives and the creators started to diverge.

The report explains that as “relations with Benioff and Weiss curdled, the studio had begun taking general meetings with other writers on possible Star Wars pitches — it’s unclear if these were just sit-downs exploring other related productions in the franchise’s cinematic and streaming universe.”

With the studio no longer working with these guys, it’s likely the studio has gone back to the drawing board. But, a series of films that explore the origins of the Jedi would certainly be interesting! Even if Benioff and Weiss aren’t a part of it, this is a concept that would be interesting to explore! I’d like to see it!

We’ll just have to wait and see what Lucasfilm’s future Star Wars plans end up being. Would you be interested in seeing a trilogy of films explore how the Jedi came to be?
