David Corenswet Gives Update on MAN OF TOMORROW Comparing It to THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

James Gunn’s Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, has wrapped production, and we are patiently waiting for a trailer and some more info. In the meantime, star of the film David Corenswet, gave fans an update on the film that will probably get Star Wars fans excited.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor explained how returning to his role as Superman reminded him of the opening sequence in The Empire Strikes Back.

He explained, the “opening of The Empire Strikes Back is really interesting because we’re reunited with Luke and Han and Leia. And we know that a lot of time has passed and there’s been a lot that’s happened in that time, but we feel like we’re still sort of in the midst of it.

“And it feels like this is the opening of the second phase of our story. So it is a chance for us to be in more solid, established relationships as Superman and Lex and Superman and Clark and Lois. And then James is going to put that at risk in this second phase.”

This doesn’t give away much in the way of storyline, but it is exciting vibe-wise.

Man of Tomorrow will see David Corenswet reprise the lead role of Superman/Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Adria Arjona as Maxima.

Aaron Pierre, who plays John Stewart in HBO’s Lanterns, will make the jump to the big screen in the sequel. Also returning to reprise his Blue Beetle role is Xolo Maridueña, who will play the superhero for the first time since the 2023 film, directed by Ángel Manuel Soto.

Man of Tomorrow is set to be released in theaters on July 9, 2027.
