David Fincher's MINDHUNTER Series Put on Hold Indefinitely

David Fincher’s Netflix series Mindhunter is one of my favorite shows. It’s a slow-burn psychological thriller that centers an FBI task force interviewing serial killers to get a better understanding of their motivations and to hopefully solve ongoing investigations.

This is an incredible series, and I know a lot of you love it, so I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the series has been put on hold indefinitely. TV Line also reports that cast members Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv have been released from their contracts.

It’s important to understand that the series has NOT been canceled. It’s just that Fincher is busy working on his other projects, and this is the one he decided to put on hold for the time being. A Netflix rep told TV Line:

“David is focused on directing his first Netflix film Mank and on producing the second season of Love, Death and Robots. He may revisit Mindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn’t fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own.”

I’m going to be very disappointed if Fincher decides not to continue the series because the first two seasons have been slowing building to the big BTK serial killer story. It sucks that the series has been put on hold, but there’s still hope that it will continue. We’ll just have to wait longer.
