David Gordon Green in Talks To Direct a Sequel to THE EXORCIST for Blumhouse

Halloween director David Gordon Green is currently in talks to direct a sequel to the classic 1973 horror film The Exorcist, which is being produced by Blumhouse and Morgan Creek Productions.

There’s no information on what this sequel will entail, but I imagine the plan is to do the same thing that Green did with Halloween and ignore all of The Exorcist sequels that have been made over the years. I liked what he did with Halloween, and I’d be curious to see what he will do with The Exorcist.

The original film was directed by William Friedkin, and it starred Ellen Burstyn, Linda Blair, and Max von Sydow. When I first saw the film when I was a kid it messed me up! That movie scared the living shit out of me. Friedkin previously confirmed that he would not be involved in this new film.

When the project was first announced, the film was set to be released on December 17th, 2021. I don’t know if they plan on keeping that release date, so we’ll just have to wait and see. What do you all think about Gordon Green directing The Exorcist sequel.

While we wait for more details, enjoy this video of audiences freaking out over the film when it was first released in theaters.
