David Jonsson and Cooper Hoffman Set to Reunite in A24’s THE CHAPERONES

David Jonsson and Cooper Hoffman, who just shared the screen in Lionsgate’s Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk, are already lining up their next project together. The two actors are in talks to co-star in A24’s The Chaperones, with India Donaldson set to direct.

The film, written by Sebastian Black in his feature debut, follows three slacker friends tasked with transporting a troubled teen across the country in the days right after Christmas. A24 is producing alongside Plan B and Icki Eneo Arlo, with Adam Wyatt Tate serving as executive producer.

Donaldson has quickly become a filmmaker to watch. Her 2024 debut Good One screened at both Cannes and Sundance, earning her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best First Screenplay and a National Board of Review Award for Best Directorial Debut.

Jonsson and Hoffman are coming off high praise for their work in The Long Walk, which recently hit theaters. Jonsson has been steadily building an impressive résumé, with a standout performance Alien: Romulus. He’ll next be seen opposite Sydney Sweeney in Scandalous! and alongside Tom Blyth in Wasteman.

Hoffman, meanwhile, has been expanding his range since his breakout turn in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza. He will next appear in Maude Apatow’s directorial debut Poetic License, and in Gregg Araki’s upcoming psychosexual thriller I Want Your Sex, where he stars opposite Olivia Wilde.

Seeing Jonsson and Hoffman team up again so quickly after The Long Walk is an exciting prospect, especially under the A24 banner and with Donaldson at the helm.

The Chaperones already sounds like a wild ride, and with this talent lineup, it’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
