David Jonsson Cast as T’Challa’s Grown Son in BLACK PANTHER 3, Ryan Coogler Will Direct
Marvel Studios finally dropped a huge piece of Black Panther 3 news at San Diego Comic-Con, and it’s one that fans are going to love!
During the Hall H presentation, Ryan Coogler officially announced that Black Panther 3 will arrive in theaters on December 18, 2028.
Along with confirming the release date, he revealed a major casting update that gives fans a much clearer idea of where the story is headed.
David Jonsson has officially been cast as the grown-up version of T’Challa’s son, Toussaint, who was introduced during the emotional closing moments of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The character’s appearance at the end of Wakanda Forever was one of the film’s biggest surprises.
Nakia revealed to Shuri that she and T’Challa had a son, explaining that they had chosen to raise him away from the pressures of the Wakandan throne.
While audiences only met him as a young child, Black Panther 3 will jump ahead and follow him as an adult.
Casting Jonsson raises plenty of exciting questions about what the next chapter of Wakanda’s story will look like.
With an older T’Challa’s son stepping into the spotlight, the film seems poised to explore a new generation while continuing the legacy left behind by King T’Challa.
Jonsson has been building an impressive résumé over the last few years, earning praise for standout performances that have showcased both his dramatic range and screen presence.
Landing a leading role in one of Marvel’s biggest franchises is a massive step forward for the rising star.
Coogler didn’t reveal additional story details during the presentation, but this announcement alone offers fans their first real glimpse at the direction of the sequel.
Rather than looking backward, Black Panther 3 appears ready to carry Wakanda into a new era with T’Challa’s son at the center of the story.
With Coogler returning to continue the franchise he helped build and Jonsson taking on such an important role, Black Panther 3 has already become one of Marvel’s most anticipated projects.
The countdown to December 18, 2028 officially begins.
