David Lynch Has "Zero Interest" in Watching the DUNE Reboot and He Addresses Rumors of TWIN PEAKS Season 4

While fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Denis Villeneuve‘s upcoming adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel Dune, one person has absolutely no interest in watching it and that person is director David Lynch, who helmed the original 1984 film.

In a recent interview with THR, Lynch was asked about the reboot and he explained:

"I have zero interest in Dune. Because it was a heartache for me. It was a failure and I didn’t have final cut. I’ve told this story a billion times. It’s not the film I wanted to make. I like certain parts of it very much — but it was a total failure for me."

When asked if he would be interested in a filmmaker's take on the story that wasn't Villeneuve's, Lynch confirmed, "I said I’ve got zero interest.”

I know he’s talked about this before, but it’s still sad to hear that he believes the film was a failure, especially since it has such a huge fanbase that does love the film. It’s not the perfect adaptation of the novel, but Lynch did the best he could with what he was given, and I think it turned out to be a great movie. But because he has such a bad experience, it’s understandable why he has no interest in the new film.

Lynch also addressed the rumors going around about the possibility of Twin Peaks Season 4, saying:

"All these rumors are flying about, but I can tell you that there’s nothing happening in that regard. It’s a rumor that even if it was true — there’s nothing happening."

So if you were hoping for more Twin Peaks, like myself, I’m sorry to say that it’s not happening. But, who's to say it won’t at some point down the road?
