David Oyelowo Set to Star in THE PRESIDENT IS MISSING Adaptation for Showtime

David Oyelowo (Selma, Star Wars Rebels) has been cast in a pilot for Showtime entitled The President is Missing, based on the 2018 book by Bill Clinton and James Patterson. Anthony Peckham (Invictus, Sherlock Holmes) is penning the adaptation. Here’s the synopsis for the story provided by Variety:

In The President Is Missing, a powerless and politically aimless Vice President (Oyelowo) unexpectedly becomes President halfway into his administration’s first term, despite his every wish to the contrary. He walks right into a secret, world-threatening crisis, both inside and outside the White House. Attacked by both friends and enemies alike, with scandal and conspiracy swirling around him, he is confronted with a terrible choice: keep his head down, toe the party line and survive, or act on his stubborn, late-developing conscience and take a stand.

This sounds like an intense and interesting story that could definitely lead to a great series. The pilot is still looking for a director, but the series is in development, so we should be hearing more soon. Does this sound like a solid series to you?
