David S. Goyer is in Talks To Direct MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

Masters of the One film project that I've been looking forward to seeing one day. It's been in and out of development for years and I've been hoping to see a great director attached to it. The last director who was developing it was McG, but thankfully that fell apart. Now, according to The Wrap, David S. Goyer is in talks to direct it.

I have mixed feeling about the possibility of Goyer taking on the project. He's written some great films like Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy and Dark City. But then he's also written some turds like Jumper and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. As far as his directing resume goes, he directed Blade: Trinity, The Unborn, and The Invisible, which I think were all pretty mediocre films.

Now, Goyer has written the most recent draft of the script for the film, which is fine. But, I don't think he's got what it takes to direct an epic and great Masters of the Universe movie. If he ends up directing, I won't be expecting much. It will just end up being another mediocre attempt and I think Sony Pictures could and should do better than mediocre.

There's always the possibility that he will surprise me, but he just doesn't have a great track record when it comes to the films he's directed.

I've been a huge fan of He-Man ever since I was a kid and this franchise has the potential to be as epic as The Lord of the Rings if it was done right. It deserves an amazingly epic adaptation and if it's anything less, there's no point in making the attempt.

Sony has set Masters of the Universe to be released on December 18, 2019. Do you think Goyer is a good choice? Who would you like to see made the movie?
