David Schwimmer Says Everyone Told Him He Had to Do This Season of GOOSEBUMPS: THE VANISHING

David Schwimmer is starring in the upcoming season of the Disney+ Goosebumps anthology series, titled Goosebumps: The Vanishing.

The actor is of course aware of the popular franchise, which started as a book series from author R.L. Stine, and has launched many successful films, as well as the first season of the show he’s joining.

But he wasn’t one of the millions who grew up reading the scary novels for kids, as he was 25 years old when they started rolling out.

Schwimmer talked to GamesRadar about missing out on the hype of the books, and having to ask around about whether he should take the role. When asked what appealed to him about the project, he explained:

"I love horror; I love action; I love comedy. Not to mention, like, this kind of huge book series that everyone apparently grew up with, except me, because I was 25 when it came out.

“So I missed it as a kid, but as soon as I was asking people, 'Hey, have you heard of Gooseb–,' everyone to a person, was like, 'Oh my God, you have to do that.'

“So, that was exciting too, participating in something that everyone already kind of loves."

He does acknowledge that starring in something beloved means "there's also a pressure that comes with it" where "you want to try to be good and not disappoint anyone."

Even so, he's certain that "people will really like what we've come up with" in Goosebumps: The Vanishing. "Honestly, it was just to be able to act in this kind of a story," Schwimmer adds, "which I've never had the chance to do before."

This looks like it’s going to be another fun Goosebumps story. All eight episodes of Goosebumps: The Vanishing are set to be released on January 10 on Disney+ and Hulu.
