David Tennent Joins Michael B. Jordan's GEN:LOCK Animated Series

Rooster Teeth has just added another great actor to their already fantastic cast. David Tennent has joined Michael B. Jordan and Dakota Fanning in the upcoming Western anime series gen:LOCK. Noted anime voice actor Kōichi Yamadera (Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Dragon Ball Super) will also be a part of the series.

Jordan will take on the role of a character named Julian Chase and this is the plot summary that was shared:

Earth’s last free society is on the losing side of a global war, and recruits a diverse team of young pilots to control the next generation of mecha—giant, weaponized robot bodies. These daring recruits will find, however, that their newfound abilities come at no small cost. As Chase leaves behind his life as a fighter pilot to become the first candidate for the program, he finds his endurance, as well as his very identity, will be tested beyond anything he ever imagined.

Tennant will play Dr. Rufus Weller aka Doc, "a lead scientist with the Experimental Science Unit (ESU) and the inventor of the gen:LOCK technology." You can see a little gif of the character below. Fanning will provide the voice of Miranda Worth, an expert mech pilot and Chase’s love interest. Yamadera will voice Kazu Iida, one of the new recruits transferring from Japan’s military forces to fight alongside Chase in the gen:Lock program.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this series turns out. It looks like it could end up being good! We'll find out when it's released in January of 2019.
