DC Animated Projects Are Coming To Stream on Amazon Prime Video
Warner Bros. Television and Amazon are partnering up to bring new DC animated content to Prime Video. The news comes from Channing Dungey, head of Warner Bros. Television, who revealed the news at Content London, stating that the studio is “exploring animated IP on different platforms.” He went on to say:
“With animation we used to be about staying in-house but now we are doing it on different platforms. HBO Max is the first stop but we are in the process of closing a big deal with Amazon featuring DC branded content in animation.”
Dungey went on to talk about WB’s stance on content production going forward, noting that extensive budgets aren't an immediate sign of success:
"There was a feeling for a while that if you’re not spending $10M an hour then you’re not doing your job. But it doesn’t take that to make a great show and doing things differently in the pandemic underscored that."
So, they are looking to spend less money on projects but put a focus on telling good and engaging stories. CEO David Zaslav is all about saving money and he’s constantly shaking things up at the studio, and one of the first things he did when he jumped into the CEO chair is start cutting costs on animated projects.
