DC Animation is Reportedly Developing a Film Titled BATMAN: SOUL OF THE DRAGON

If you’re a fan of the DC animated films that Warner Bros. produces, there’s a new one coming that you might be interested in. GWW is reporting that they are developing an Elseworlds Batman film titled Batman: Soul of the Dragon.

This version of Batman will put a focus on Bruce Wayne’s Martial Arts training. The film will reportedly “center around Batman, Bronze Tiger, Lady Shiva, and Richard Dragon as we learn they all share a common acquaintance. The Martial Arts Master that trained not only Batman but this set of rouges has been missing for a number of years and under mysterious circumstances. When a cursed relic resurfaces the mystery of their dead master re-opens and Batman and his former classmates face-off in the ultimate test of their Martial Arts kills to gain control of this dangerous relic.”

The report speculates that the new Batman film could be primarily influenced by Dennis O’Neil's 70s comic series Richard Dragon: Kung-Fu Fighter. That comic run marked the debuts of Dragon, Bronze Tiger and Lady Shiva.

This sounds like it’ll make for a cool animated film and I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out! Not much information is known in terms of casting, but the film is slated to be released in the Spring of 2021.
