DC Studios Announces Animated WATCHMEN Movie
DC Studios has announced that they will be developing an animated film adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' classic graphic novel Watchmen. No information was given on what the plan is for the film. We don’t know if it will be a direct adaptation of the comic, if it will be a sequel of sorts, or if there are other plans. But, we are getting a new Watchmen project.
I think it would be cool if we got an animated film that’s a direct adaptation of the original comic. Don’t change anything. Just use Moore’s writing as your guide and develop it using top-notch animation in the same style as Gibbons. Just animate the graphic novel!
Watchmen follows an alternative history in the U.S. in which superheroes emerged in the 1940s, the US won the Vietnam War, and the Watergate scandal was never revealed. In the story, the US and USSR are closing in on WWIII, while most superheroes are either working for the government or are in retirement. The story follows the moral struggle of superheroes Rorschach, Doctor Manhattan, the Nite Owl and others as they come out of retirement to deal with the murder of Edward Blake, known as The Comedian, a state-sponsored superhero.
It was also announced that DC’s Crisis on Infinite Earths will be getting an animated film adaptation as well. What would you like to see from a Watchmen animated film?
