DC Film President Praises James Gunn and Says He's "Always Welcome Back, Whatever He Wants to Do"

James Gunn sure did end up impressing a lot of people over at Warner Bros. with his work on The Suicide Squad. I still haven’t seen the movie yet, but so far, it is one of his best-reviewed films, and that’s saying something.

Margot Robbie doesn’t think that anyone else in Hollywood could have pulled off what James Gunn did with this film. In an interview with THR, she shared:

“If I read the script and didn’t know James Gunn was going to direct it, it would have been a straight-up ‘no.” I was like, ‘No one could pull this off.’ It’s so specific in its brand of comedy and violence. But it came out of his imagination. He knew exactly what to do with it.”

Well, it seems like Gunn has certainly pulled off something awesome and special with this film and Warner Bros. definitely wants to work with him again, and the feeling is mutual with Gunn. DC Films president Walter Hamada confirmed that there will be more DC projects from Gunn in the future:

“Gunn is always welcome back, whatever he wants to do. He really has a vision and he’s a great partner with us. Whenever he wants to come back, we’re ready for him. He’ll be back. We have more stuff planned.”

We have no idea what exactly Gunn and DC are planning together, but we can expect more great things from their collaboration. It could be a sequel to The Suicide Squad, it could be another spinoff, if could be any number of DC properties! No matter what he ends up doing, in the end, the fans and the audiences win! He’s just such a great filmmaker and storyteller!

In the meantime, I can’t wait to get to the theater and watch The Suicide Squad!
