DC is Developing an AQUAMAN Spinoff Horror Film Called THE TRENCH

With Aquaman being met with great reviews and exploding at the box office, it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment would want to cash in more on its success.

While we all know that an Aquaman sequel will eventually happen, it looks like there’s going to be a spinoff film before it does. The studio is developing a movie called The Trench and they’ve hired newbie writers Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald to write “a horror-tinged script centered on the Trench, the deadly amphibious creatures seen attacking the hero and his love, Mera, in Aquaman.”

James Wan will produce alongside Peter Safran and it’s said to be a much more modestly budgeted film than the normal DC superhero tentpole movies.

I loved the design of The Trench creatures in Aquaman and I’m actually pretty excited to learn that they might get their own movie. The Trench are described as "trench-dwelling cannibals". They have the ability to spit a chemical from their mouth that can cause paralysis. They have superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, speed, senses, the ability to see perfectly in the pitch blackness of the deep ocean, and razor sharp teeth.

There are no details on the story that The Trench movie will tell, but I can see it being a pretty cool DC horror movie if it’s done right.

What do you think about The Trench getting its own spinoff movie?
