DC is Now Developing a SUPERGIRL Film For Warner Bros.
Looks like DC Entertainment has added another film project to their pipeline. According to Deadline, they a developing a feature film based on Supergirl and they've hired Oren Uziel to write the script. Uziel has worked on films such as Mortal Kombat, 22 Jump Street, The Cloverfield Paradox, and the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog movie.
There aren't many details on the project, but the report did add that it's "unclear whether Superman will appear in this but if the rumors are true that Warner Bros and DC Entertainment are looking to create a new template for future Superman movies, this would seem a likely place to hatch a new persona."
Hopefully, they get a Man of Steel sequel off the ground! I'm surprised that the studio has been dragging their feet on that. That's actually a movie I would be looking forward to. The report goes on to say, that "finding a different way back to the Superman universe through Supergirl reflects the differing mindset of DC priority titles to be a bit out of the box."
I've enjoyed what DC has been doing with the Supergirl TV series, but don't expect this movie to be connected to that in any way. There's no word on when we might see a Supergirl movie go into production. I guess it all depends on how this first initial script turns out.
Some of the upcoming DC films that are currently in development include Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman 2; Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix's Joker; Cathy Yan and Margot Robbie's Birds of Prey; Matt Reeves The Batman; and Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley's The Flash starring Ezra Miller. Aquaman and Shazam are the next two films that will be released.
What do you think about DC starting work on a Supergirl movie?
