DC Studios' SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW Movie to Be Scripted by Ana Nogueira

DC Studios is moving forward with its Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie with screenwriter Ana Nogueira. She was actually previously hired to write a Supergirl movie back in 2022 when Warner Bros. was developing the project as a spinoff of The Flash, with Sasha Calle in the lead role. This will be a completely different project, though, with a whole new take on the character.

The film is obviously in early development and no director is attached at this time. There aren’t any plot details to share for the movie, but the original comic follows Supergirl as she gets caught up in a young alien girl’s quest for revenge.

It was previously explained that the movie is “based on Tom King’s wonderful comic book series that came out just last year… This is a very different type of Super Girl.” in this film “we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time is an infant versus super girl who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to earth when she was a young girl and is much more hardcore. She's not exactly the Super Girl we are used to seeing.”

The film is a big part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s grand plan to relaunch the DC universe. This new vision of DC will kick off with Superman Legacy, which Gunn is writing and directing with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan starring. Production for that film will begin next year.
