DC's BATGIRL Movie Will Be Helmed by the Directors of BAD BOYS FOR LIFE
Warner Bros. has hired Bad Boys For Life and Ms. Marvel directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to helm DC Entertainment’s upcoming Batgirl movie. The two directors must have had a hell of a good pitch meeting! I didn’t really care for Bad Boys For Life, but maybe they’ll do some cool things with Batgirl.
The script for the film comes from Christina Hodson, who wrote the Transformers movie Bumblebee as well as DC’s Birds of Prey and The Flash. Kristin Burr, who recently worked on Cruella, is producing the film, which is going to be released exclusively on HBO Max. Burr said in a statement:
‘With Batgirl, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham. Christina’s script is crackling with spirit. Adil and Bilall have an excited and joyous energy which is infectious, making them the perfect filmmakers for this Batproject. And I’m just psyched I get to be part of the DC universe, which is super cool.”
Joss Whedon was originally hired to write and direct the film, but he and WB ended up parting ways on the project. His version of the movie would have been inspired by the popular “Batgirl of Burnside” comic book run. He left the project after admitting that he couldn’t find a take on the story and character that worked for him.
What do you think about Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directing Batgirl?
