DC's STARGIRL Renewed for Season 2 on The CW

If you’ve been enjoying DC’s Stargirl, you’ll be happy to learn that The CW has renewed the series for a second season! I’ve actually enjoyed watching this series, and I think it has the potential to have a successful future if they keep up with the high-level of storytelling quality.

The network also announced that it will be the exclusive in-season home for Stargirl next season, with episodes airing on the CW network and streaming the next day on The CW’s free, ad-supported streaming platforms. The first season of the series was produced for the DC Universe subscription service. However, going forward, DC’s Stargirl will not be available on DC Universe.

The series stars Brec Bassinger (School of Rock) in the role of Courtney Whitmore, a.k.a. Stargirl, as she accepts her superhero destiny. Joel McHale also has a role in the series as Golden Age Starman/Sylvester Pemberton, and Luke Wilson is playing Pat Dugan.

Stargirl tells the story of Courtney Whitmore (Bassinger) “who is a smart, athletic and above all else kind girl. This high school teenager’s seemingly perfect life hits a major speedbump when her mother gets married and her new family moves from Los Angeles, California to Blue Valley, Nebraska. Struggling to adapt to a new school, make new friends, and deal with a new step-family, Courtney discovers her step-father has a secret; he used to be the sidekick to a superhero. ‘Borrowing’ the long-lost hero’s cosmic staff, Courtney becomes the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes.”

Bassinger is also joined by S.W.A.T.‘s Lou Ferrigno Jr. who was cast as Golden Age Hourman, Brian Stapf as Ted Grant/Wildcat, Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Henry Thomas as Charles McNider/Dr Mid-Nite, and Anjelika Washington.

If you’ve been watching the series, what are your thoughts on it?
