DC's ZATANNA Movie Will Be Written by PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN Director Emerald Fennell
The Oscar-nominated director of Promising Young Woman, Emerald Fennell, has been hired by Warner Bros. to write the script for the DC film Zatanna.
J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions are producing the movie, and Fennell is certainly an interesting choice to bring in to write. She did an amazing job directing Promising Young Woman, and I wonder if she will have the opportunity to direct the film as well if the studio likes the script she turns in.
On top of Promising Young Woman, Fennell also worked on Killing Eve Season 2 as the showrunner. She’s also an actress whose credits include Anna Karenina, The Danish Girl, Call the Midwife, and most recently, Netflix’s royal drama The Crown, in which she played Camilla Bowles.
I’m a fan of the character Zatanna, she’s a powerful magician who casts spells by speaking backwards and she also works stage performer. Zatanna has been a fixture in DC Comics for decades, she was created by Gardner Fox and Murphy Anderson, and the character also made appearances in DC animated projects over the years and also appeared in Smallville.
What are your thoughts on Emerald Fennell taking on Zatanna?
