DEAD RISING Movie Adaptation Has a Director
A couple of months ago Legendary Pictures announced that they would be developing a digital feature adaptation of the hit zombie video game Dead Rising. The film is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers), and they've hired Leprechaun: Origins director Zach Lipovsky to helm the project.
The story takes place during a massive zombie outbreak. "When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy."
It's basically every zombie movie rolled into one. I love zombie movies, so more zombie stuff doesn't bother me. I've also enjoyed playing this game, and it could make for a great and entertaining flick if it's done right.
Mortal Kombat: Legacy producer Tim Carter wrote the script for the 90 minute movie, and it will premiere exclusively on Crackle in the US and will also be distributed internationally in both episodic and feature format by Content Media Corp. Dead Rising will also be released on SVOD, DVD, VOD, and TV after its run on Crackle.
