DEADPOOL 2 Director David Leitch Frontrunner For Dwayne Johnson's FAST AND FURIOUS Spinoff
Universal Pictures is looking to hire a director to take on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's Fast and Furious spinoff film and according to Variety, their top choice is John Wick and Deadpool 2 director David Leitch.
This news is sure to get fans of the franchise excited because Leitch has directed some insanely cool badass action movies. It's going to be so cool to see what he would bring to the Fast and Furious franchise, specifically with the characters special agent Luke Hobbs and criminal mastermind Deckard Shaw.
These two actors had such great chemistry on screen together. And the prospect of them starring in a spinoff film was so exciting to the studio that they wanted to get this movie made and in theaters before Fast and Furious 9.
There are no details on the story yet or where it will leave the two characters when the ninth instalment of the franchise picks up, but franchise writer Chris Morgan is writing the script. The studio is hoping to release the film on July 26, 2019.
