A couple of months ago, it was reported that the director of Deadpool 2 and John Wick, David Leitch, was the frontrunner to direct Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's Fast and Furious spinoff film. EW has now confirmed that Leitch is officially set to direct, so the studio got their wish.
The untitled film will focus on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, and their respective characters Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw. That title of the film should be Hobbs and Shaw: A Fast and Furious Story.
There are no details on what the story will entail, but I do like these characters and I'm looking forward to seeing how Leitch goes about playing with them in the film. As you know, Leitch has a talent for directing badass action films, so it will be awesome to see what he ends up bringing to the movie. He will direct from a script written by Chris Morgan, who has written six installments of the franchise.
The Hobbs and Shaw film is set to be released on July 26, 2019. Are you happy to hear that Leitch will be directing the movie?
