DEADPOOL 2 Director David Leitch Talks About Approaching Domino's Unique Powers of Luck

Luck or probability manipulation is probably one of my favorite powers to have. My favorite heroes in comics often have these powers, like Longshot, Domino, and Black Cat. However, they aren't exactly an easy power to describe or to make rules for. If your power is that you're lucky, then what are its limits. This is something David Leitch, director of Deadpool 2, has had to figure out himself.

In a recent interview, Leitch talked about how excited he was to have Domino in the film as well as Zazie Beetz playing the character. One of the biggest struggles is showing that her power is, in fact, causing things to happen. Leitch described how they would visualize the powers, saying:

"We're having fun with her power, because when you really distill it, it's the laws of probability. I think there's a lot of ways to go with it, and I think we have some really cool visual ideas of how we can demonstrate that. And then also there's the Deadpool tone of how you can be self-referential to all powers. So it's going to be fun."

I think having Domino in the new Deadpool movie helps a lot. With Deadpool, you can make jokes about the power and be tongue in cheek about it because that's the whole point of Deadpool. If she or someone else were to bring up that she's using her power in any other film, it might seem like it's too much. I'm excited how they will visually show it. If it will be something Rube Goldberg-like or if they will do something akin to Scarlet Witch and show some energy sort of thing affecting things.

I hope it's done well. Luck is something that is really tricky, but if explained properly, it can make for the coolest kind of power to see. It can especially make for great comedy. Fingers crossed we see more luck based heroes down the line.
