DEADPOOL 2 Is Being Pushed for 15 Oscars Including Best Picture
Disney is not the only one trying to get their superhero films to win an Oscar. 20th Century Fox is submitting Deadpool 2 for 15 categories including Best Picture.
Is there really no true Oscar-bait film from 2018 yet, and so everyone thinks their film actually has a shot at Best Picture this year? Or is the strategy just to push for so many areas that at least a few will stick?
I don’t think that any of these superhero films will win Best Picture. I think we’re years away from them even winning any of the prestigious nominations outside of the technical aspects of the film.
Maybe I’m wrong though. Who knows. Here’s the full list of “For Consideration” submissions:
Best Picture (Simon Kinberg, Ryan Reynolds, Lauren Shuler Donner)
Best Director (David Letich)
Best Original Screenplay (Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Ryan Reynolds)
Best Actor (Ryan Reynolds)
Best Supporting Actor (Josh Brolin, Julian Dennison, T.J. Miller, Karan Soni, Jack Kesy)
