DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Actor Hugh Jackman Teases His Future in the MCU Saying "It Doesn't Feel Like the End"
When Marvel laid out the first list of actors who would be a part of the next Avengers film, fans were excited to see the X-Men, as well as the Fantastic Four and the New Avengers among the cast, but there were a few characters left off the list that we were all pretty surprised about.
One of those was Hugh Jackman. After the success of the 2024 summer blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, which was a huge return for Jackman as well as pre-pandemic box office numbers, it just made sense that he would return at least for these major event ensembles, but his name is still not on the cast list.
Of course, without a formal announcement, Jackman cannot confirm or deny his involvement, but he did drop a hint that seemingly links him to at least the first film, Avengers: Doomsday.
Jackman said in an interview with Wicked star Cynthia Erivo for the Variety & CNN Actors on Actors series:
"It doesn’t feel like the end. It really felt like the end after 'Logan.' Actually, I needed to claim it as the end, because I really believed in some things that I wanted that movie to be, and I had to fight for them.
“I had to say, 'This is the last time I’m doing it.' Then when I saw 'Deadpool,' I was like, 'Oh. I see '48 Hrs.' I see Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte.' But I would shove it down. 'I’ve told everyone that I’m done. I’m not one of those guys.’
“Then I went, 'You know what? I change my mind. It’s not that big of a deal. I’m not even gonna say I’m sorry.' And it was so awesome."
It doesn’t feel like the end, because it’s absolutely not! Jackman will be back, it sounds like he’s just sworn to secrecy. I expect him in Doomsday, and probably Avengers: Secret Wars as well, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see a Deadpool and Wolverine team up sequel down the line either.
But as always with Marvel, we will just have to wait and see.
