DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Breaks R-Rated Movie Presale Ticket Records
We are two months away from the release of the highly anticipated Marvel buddy movie Deadpool & Wolverine, and the film has already broken records.
Ticket sales started up this week, and it’s been revealed that so many fans have pre-bought tickets, the presale records have been broken for highest sales in R-rated movie history.
After just one day, the movie sold almost $9 million worth of tickets. This is pretty wild because there are still two months to go, and when we see opening nights sell out, we generally see more showings added on, so these numbers still have a long way to go.
Not only is this huge for the studio, but movie theatres are pretty stoked at the trajectory of the film’s success. AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron talked about the milestone in a post on X, stating:
"Many big movies will open in May, June & July. Including Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Opens July 25. Some 200,000 movie fans have bought their AMC tickets already. This is more Day 1 ticket sales at AMC than for any other R-rated movie ever."
This will be another Barbie phenomenon, and I can’t wait to be a part of it. Deadpool & Wolverine hits theatres on July 26, 2024.
