DEADPOOL Director Tim Miller is Developing a KITTY PRYDE Movie
According to Collider, Deadpool director Tim Miller is currently developing a Marvel movie that revolves around the X-Men character Kitty Pryde. The movie project has been and is currently in development at Fox. Who knows if the Disney merger will affect that, but according to the report, the project hasn't been affected yet. I'm sure it will eventually complicate things. Fox and Miller just don't want to sit around and wait to see if Disney is going to shut the project down or not.
Kitty Pryde, who is also known as Shadowcat, Ariel, and Sprite is a mutant who has the ability of "phase", which allows her to pass through solid objects, disrupt electromagnetic fields, and even levitate.
I've always liked the character Kitty Pryde who was played by Ellen Page in the X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Day of Future Past. I doubt that Page will come back for the role, but I do like the idea of a film that focuses on the character. It could be fun and if all the stars align and it does happen, it would the first solo film for the character and the first female-led Marvel movie for Fox since Elektra.
I would personally love to see an adaptation of the Chris Claremont and Al Milgrom comic book miniseries Kitty Pryde and Wolverine, which followed the character to Japan to see what problems her father has gotten into. On her journey, she gets possessed by the ninja demon named Ogun and Wolverine has to help her overcome the devil that has taken her over.
They might have to recast Wolverine because Hugh Jackman isn't coming back, or they could just replace him with another X-Men character. There are a ton of other different story arcs that Miller could be pulling from, though.
If the Kitty Pryde project officially gets picked up, Miller will most likely end up directing it. I'm really curious to know what he's planning for this movie and I hope that it's one of those projects that carry over to Disney, but we'll just have to wait and see.
What do you think of Miller developing a Kitty Pryde movie? Do you hope it happens? What Kitty Pryde story would you like to see get told?
