DEADPOOL Fans Start Petition To Get Quentin Tarantino To Direct The Sequel
Over the weekend, we learned that Deadpool director Tim Miller dropped out of directing the sequel due to creative differences he had with star Ryan Reynolds. I was pretty bummed out by the news, and I hope that Reynolds isn't becoming a diva where it's his way or the highway.
Since that happened, a group of fans got together and started a petition for their choice of who the new director should be. That director is Quentin Tarantino, and this is what the petition says:
If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it. We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for The Merc with the Mouth! It would be so glorious. Join me!
I think Tarantino would be an interesting choice, but here's the thing: I think he would completely stray away from the comics and do his own thing with the character, which would be fun to see, but it wouldn't really keep in line with what was started in the first movie. I personally wish that Miller would have stayed on because he already has proven that he's got what it takes to handle Deadpool in the right ways.
Hopefully, whoever Fox and Reynolds bring on to direct Deadpool 2 will have that same kind of vision for the character and be able to bring us a sequel that is superior to the first film, because that's what fans like myself are expecting. It'd be a shame if that didn't happen.
I honestly have no idea who would make a solid director for this sequel. Maybe Reynolds should direct it. But as interesting as it would be to see Tarantino take it on, I just don't think he's the right man for the job. I'd also just like to see him keep telling his original stories. What do you all think?
