DEADPOOL Is the Highest-Grossing X-MEN Movie Ever at the Domestic Box Office
Deadpool continues to rake in the cash this weekend and has managed to reach a new milestone. It has now become the highest-grossing movie X-Film of all freakin' time at the domestic box office.
This weekend the film pulled in more than $55 million bringing its ten day total to $235 million. The record was previously held by X-Men: The Last Stand, which made $234 million domestically and $459 million globally.
X-Men: Days of Future Past only made $233 Million domestically, but went on to make $747 million worldwide. So far, Deadpool has made over $491 million worldwide, so it has quite a ways to go if it wants to beat out that $747 million.
Deadpool is also now the high-grossing rated R comic book movie of all time, beating out Zack Snyder's 300, which made $456 million worldwide. It's also on pace to take out The Passion of the Christ, which made over $611 million, as the top-grossing R-rated film of all time.
I think it's awesome that Deadpool is doing as well as it is! 20th Century Fox was not expecting this kind of success at all. From what I've heard, the studio was hoping that the film would at least make $70 million. Well, Deadpool proved them all wrong and has become one of their most successful properties.
It's a good thing someone leaked that test footage to get this film greenlit!
