Dear Duffer Brothers, This is What I Want From STRANGER THINGS Season 2
On Wednesday, Netflix officially announced that there will be a season 2 of one of their hit shows Stranger Things. Entertainment Weekly also released an interview with showrunners/creators The Duffer Brothers, where they talk about some things we can all expect from the upcoming season.
When I saw the teaser announcement, I got SUPER hyped. I loved the first season. It has been the basis of quite a few discussions I have had with my friends over the past few months. After reading the EW interview, I thought about what I wanted to see out of season 2 of Stranger Things. I compiled the list, and in no particular order, here are just five of the many things that I am looking forward to in the next season of Stranger Things.
1. More of The Upside Down
The world of the Upside Down was definitely one of my favorite parts of the series. By the end of the first season, though, I still had many unanswered questions. Is there more than one monster? Are there still ways to access the Upside Down? Is anyone still trapped there? How does eating and drinking work in the Upside Down? Is there food just lying around? Does it taste the same? SO MANY QUESTIONS, and I'd love answers to all of them — especially the last two.
2. Numbers 1-10
There are a whole lot of numbers between one and Eleven, and I want know what happened to all of them. Are they dead or alive? If alive, do they live in the surrounding towns that the Duffers plan to visit in season 2? Did they form a small team of adult fighting children that live in a tree house using an insane number of acronyms and making the world a better place for kids, free from the tyranny of the man known as "Father?" Questions that need answering.
3. Nancy and Jonathan
If Nancy and Jonathan do not get together, so help me, I will throw a tantrum and lock them in the Upside Down myself until they get it together. I’m a sucker for some romance and want Nancy to be with Jonathan, although I'm not going to forget about how creepy he was at the beginning of the first season. Staking out in the woods taking pictures of people like that...NOT COOL DUDE.
4. Steve and Jean-Ralphio
This has to be one of my favorite unexplored theories in the show. It makes total sense and quite frankly this is just the Stranger Things version of R+L=J. So Duffer Brothers, go ahead and save us six seasons of fan theory agony and let’s call a spade, a spade.
5. Justice For Barb
This has to be probably one of the most contentious topics debated about Stranger Things season 1, but let me just say "Justice For Barb." They did Barb dirty. The worst part is, no one even thought twice about her going missing! The Duffer Brothers have talked about exploring the effects of Barb's death in season 2. I'm hoping it's in the form of “Barb the Petty and Angry ghost,” Barb being brought back to life, or getting her own Netflix spin-off, #LifeWithBarb. I hope we get #JusticeForBarb, but until then, Jimmy Fallon did a sketch in memory of Barb.
Bonus: More Dustin, Please!
Gaten Matarazzo’s Dustin was possibly my favorite character in the show. He was just a gem. From the way he carried himself to his line delivery, he often stole the scene for me. I always just wanted a little more Dustin. So let's see some more Dustin, PLEASE!
Overall, I loved season one and cannot wait for the second season. These are just a few of the questions I want answers to or things that I would like to see. What are you looking forward to being explored, or questions you want answered, in this upcoming season?
