Deleted BARBIE Post-Credits Scene Would Have Featured Pregnant Barbie Midge Going Into Labor
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has had a great couple of weeks at the box office with fans going in droves to see the heartfelt comedy, creating a spectrum of dialogue about the message and what it all means. The film has a bit of everything, from dance numbers to introspective questions about life, but the one thing it doesn’t have is a post-credits scene. It almost did, though!
In a recently released photo from behind the scenes of the film, we get to see the scene cards lined up on a cork board with photos from each scene reminding the filmmakers of the scenes, and helping to keep the flow of the story straight. One post-credits scene is named on the board, titled “Midge in Labor,” and it shows a picture of “pregnant Barbie,” aka Midge, in a hospital gown, with two doctor Barbies, some sort of Ken, and the film’s narrator, Helen Mirren, by her side.
We didn’t get to see this scene play out, but it sounds like it would have been a fun one! Other scene names that look like they were scrapped were titled “Barbie Land Creation,” “Barbie Monument,” “Barbies Can Save Us,” and “Ken Toys Returned.” I think the editing of the movie was great, and it all worked out just the way it was supposed to. But I wouldn’t be opposed to checking out any of these deleted scenes in the special features when the movie is released to own!
