Delightful First Trailer for SCOOB! Gives Us the Origin Story for Scooby-Doo and Shaggy

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for their latest Scooby-Doo film, Scoob!, and it puts the focus on the origin story of Shaggy and Scooby-Doo and how they met as kids. I’m sure fans of Scooby-Doo will find it quite charming.

While most of the trailer deals with that, it also offers a glimpse at the adventure that the gang will find themselves embarking on as Scooby and Shaggy are “taken.” You’ll see what that means when you watch the trailer. But, first… here’s the synopsis!

SCOOB! reveals how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined with young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc. Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this global “dogpocalypse,” the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.

Frank Welker returns to provide the voice of Scooby-Doo, and he’ll be joined by Zac Efron as Fred, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne, Gina Rodriguez as Velma, and Will Forte as Shaggy. The film also stars Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman and Kiersey Clemons as Dee Dee Skyes. Mark Wahlberg will play Blue Falcon, Jason Isaacs is voicing the villain Dick Dastardly, and Ken Jeong will play Blue Falcon’s sidekick, Dynomutt. Then there’s Iain Armitage from Young Sheldon and Mckenna Grace from Captain Marvel, who are playing young versions of Shaggy and Daphne.

Scoob! is directed by Scooby-Doo franchise veteran Tony Cervone and is set to be released on May 15th, 2020.
