Delightful Full Trailer for Pixar's Fun New Adventure Film LUCA
Disney has released a full trailer for Pixar’s new animated adventure film Luca, which takes place on the beautiful Italian Riviera. The film tells a coming-of-age story about “one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: he is a sea monster from another world just below the water’s surface.”
The movie stars Jacob Tremblay and Jack Dylan Grazer as a couple of young sea creatures that venture from the ocean onto dry land where they will experience an unforgettable summer with a human friend, who encourages them to try fun new things. It looks like another great Pixar movie!
Luca is directed by Enrico Casarosa (La Luna) and produced by Andrea Warren (Lava, Cars 3). The director previously explained that Luca will blend elements of his life growing up in Genoa with The Little Mermaid and the works of iconic animator Hayao Miyazaki. He previously shared:
“I was born in Genoa, and my summers were spent on beaches. I met my best friend when I was 11. I was really shy and I found this troublemaker of a kid who had a completely different life. I wanted to make a movie about those kinds of friendships that help you grow up.
“This is a deeply personal story for me, not only because it’s set on the Italian Riviera where I grew up, but because at the core of this film is a celebration of friendship. Childhood friendships often set the course of who we want to become and it is those bonds that are at the heart of our story in Luca,” Casarosa said in a statement when the film was first announced last year. “So in addition to the beauty and charm of the Italian seaside, our film will feature an unforgettable summer adventure that will fundamentally change Luca.”
Luca will be released on Disney+ on June 18th.
