Delightful Trailer and Poster for HBO Series JULIA With Sarah Lancashire in the Lead Role of Julia Child
HBO has released a delightful trailer and poster for their upcoming series Julia, which follows the life and career of the groundbreaking chef and TV star Julia Child, played by Sarah Lancashire (Happy Valley, Yesterday). She is joined in the cast by David Hyde Pierce as Paul Cushing Child, Brittany Bradford, Bebe Neuwirth, Isabella Rossellini, Robert Joy, Erin Neufer, James Cromwell, Adriane Lenox, Fran Kranz, and Christian Clemenson as James Beard.
The series is created by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel producer Daniel Goldfarb, with episodes directed by Charles McDougall, Erica Dunton, and Jenée LaMarque. The series was written by Natalia Temesgen.
Here’s the synopsis:
HBO Max's "Julia" series is inspired by Julia Child’s extraordinary life and her long-running television series, "The French Chef," which pioneered the modern cooking show. Through Julia’s life and her joie de vivre, the series explores a pivotal time in American history – the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism and the women’s movement, the nature of celebrity and America’s cultural evolution. At its heart, the series is a portrait of a loving marriage with a shifting power dynamic.
This just looks like such a fun series. Who doesn’t love Julia Child with that accent, her sense of humor, and the incredible talent and gumption she brought to the world via her cooking show? This looks like it really captures her, and I look forward to watching it. Check out the trailer below, and watch Julia on HBO and HBO Max when it premieres on March 31st.
